Kickstarters We're WYLD About: 'Western Legends' by Kolossal Games
There's something to be said about the old west: the open air and open scenery, the limitless boundaries of land and of spirit, and the untamed wild of nature and of man. Few eras have so accurately been defined in black and white, not necessarily in regards to depictions romanticized by Hollywood films, but in the character of mankind. In a land mostly without fences, most didn't spend their time straddling one. Instead, they chose exactly who they wanted to be to achieve the goals that they were seeking in the way they felt was best. Things were generally there for the taking, and with the right amount of spirit and the right amount of ammo, you could have it all.
Enter Western Legends from Kolossal Games, a game engineered to embrace the open world feel of the West by putting decisions in the hands of the player to shape out how they want to achieve their success. Featuring 12 playable, historical figures, the game places you on the path to achieve your goals and become a legend, but that path is formed entirely by your hand. The bold world presented in the game board presents you with opportunities to mine gold, wrangle or rustle cattle, rob banks, take down bandits, play games of poker, and be or break the law. You can approach your victory however you see fit. Perhaps you want to start entirely on the outside of the law and rob and steal from other players, or perhaps you want to brandish the badge of a lawman and hunt down the ne'er-do-wells? You can even make your legend mining and depositing gold and moving cattle. The choice is entirely yours. Your path is complimented through inventive uses of action cards that are inspired and built entirely from a deck of multi-purposed poker cards. You can utilize them for the action written on them, for actual games of poker in town, or through duels with other players, bandits, bank guards, and lawmen.
This multi-faceted, ambitious game gives you a number of ways to play and earn your rank as Legend, and it definitely sits high on our radar for 2018. See more for yourself at http://kck.st/2Eusx9s. The Kickstarter runs through January 28th, and we're working to get a review and/or playthrough video up if possible.
